From childhood to Uni, I studied classical music, literature and musical theatre. My adult career in music began with songwriting and performing in band projects and Musicals. I pursued dual-professionalism from the start of my employment, combining music teaching and performing with a job at the BBC. I then progressed through roles at major record labels whilst writing and performing as a singer-songwriter.

I work cowriting on singer-songwriter projects in London, mainly folk, country and pop whilst developing my independent record label and cowriting in Nashville. I also gained experience teaching vocals, music business, music theory and keys and then began to specialise in the new area of songwriting tuition and forged my own method, beginning with writing and teaching evening courses, moving on to design and build a full-time Professional Diploma which eventually became the UK’s leading BA (Hons) Songwriting Programme of which I am now Programme Leader at The Institute.

During my career, I have taught at Italia Conti and The Institute. I have worked for The BBC, Sony Music UK and Syco. My songwriting graduates range from Daughter and Denai Moore to Rise To Remain. I have written with Laura Welsh (Polydor), Bobby Tomberlin (One More Day), Loick Essien (RCA and Universal), Bruce Hughes (Dr. Luke & Jason Mraz) and Georgia Thomas (Nashville). Professionally, I have worked with Simon Cowell, Jamie Oliver, Westlife, Kelly Clarkson, Charlotte Church and Il Divo and Product Managed Barbra Streisand and Neil Diamond Albums and the concept albums Classic Chillout and Music To Watch Girls By.

I am managed by Ken Kushnik who was Executive VP for Sire Records where he signed Talking Heads and worked with Madonna and The Pretenders. He has also managed Grammy-winning producer Don Was and jazz-legend Herbie Hancock.
